AMBIDEXTEROUS FIDGET FUN

Focused on single ambidextrous hand operation

Too many times have I been holding something that I needed to cut with one hand and then had to release my grip to get my knife ready to use. What good is a pocketknife if I can’t easily use it and put it away?

For MERINO I created an ambidextrous bar lock which is deployed with a blade kick. The blade kick is a small portion of the blade which sticks out from the back spine of the handle of the knife. By pushing this small part of the blade you can “kick” the blade out of the handle and since I designed these knives with bearings that small push on the kick will (with a little bit of practice) allow you to fully open and lock open the blade.

To close the knife you simply bull back on the bar lock to release the blade. Once again the bearings in the blade will allow for a near effortless retraction of the blade into the handle.

A bit of warning for those of you that like to fidget with things. Once you develop this one hand opening and closing skill you will find that the MERINO line is a wonderfully addictive fidget toy. (Just to be clear, this is a sharp tool and NOT a fidget toy. If you can’t help yourself; be sure to keep some band aids close at hand).
